Lake Bob Sandlin is a 9,460-acre reservoir on Big Cypress. It was impounded in 1977. It offers marinas, fishing, cabins, swimming, skiing, restaurants, boat ramps, excellent bass fishing, and a State Park! Lake records for largemouth bass are 14.31 lbs. and white bass are 3.39 lbs. Other popular fish are catfish and crappie.
Areas around the state park were home to prehistoric Caddoan people who occupied East Texas from 200 B.C. - 1700 A.D. The French and Spanish occupied the area as well, along with Choctaw, Cherokee and Kickapoo peoples. Fort Sherman, a wooden stockade, was built in this area in 1841, and the Fort Sherman cemetery is located within the park. Beginning in the mid-late 1800's, the land has been used agriculturally.
Bob Sandlin State Park covers 640 acres on FM 127 and FM 21, and offers day use and overnight camping facilities. It has picnic sites, screened-in shelters, hiking trails, a boat ramp and fishing pier. It was acquired in 1979 and opened in 1987. The Lake is accessible from Pittsburg and Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Lakes adjacent to Bob Sandlin inlcude Cypress Springs and Monticello. Additional information on Lake Bob Sandlin may be found at the lake headquarters off FM 3417 from U.S. Highway 271 south of Mount Pleasant, Texas.
Ice, firewood, gifts, and state park maps are available at Park Headquarters Building . Activities include: primitive campsites, campsites with water and electricity, limited use cabins, picnicking, hiking, swimming, mountain biking, in-line skating, fishing, boating, bird watching, walking. Eagles have been spotted during the winter months.

12 miles SW of Mt. Pleasant on FM 21.
Exit Interstate 30 on Highway 37 South at Mt. Vernon. Go .8 mile, turn
left on Highway 21, go 11.2 miles to the park entrance. (on your left
before you cross the lake)
From Pittsburg, take Highway 11 West 5 miles to FM
21. Turn right on FM 21, go 5.5 miles to the park entrance.

"the most advanced bell system known as the “Renaissance
Carillon,” and a chapel open 24/7/365. There is a bronze statue in
front of the tower of Jesus washing the disciples' feet. There is a
beautiful long, rectangular fountain at the back and gorgeous lush
